Garage – done!

We have a garage, ya’ll!

For those of you following along at home, we ended up going with a carriage-house style double door (shout-out to our awesome garage door guy Clint, who I’ve known since we were in diapers, and the fine folks at Delden). Turns out board siding was the same price as vinyl, so we went with the board. We had them install two windows – one on each side – and went with architectural shingles in Black Walnut. Although we intended to have the door on the gable side, it ended up on the eave side due to some miscommunication with the builder (our bad, but a pretty small issue overall, so onward).

We are really just thrilled to have something done (ish) and to have an enclosed, secure space on the property.

We rebuilt the new garage on the old concrete slab. So a little piece of the Austin family will remain.

Turns out it’s also a perfect spot for gathering & throwing walnuts.

Of course, it still needs to be painted – that will get done when we bring in painters for the house. And we’ll need to gravel or asphalt the drive and hook up electricity. But for now, we’re putting this one in the “done” column.
